Why one image needs many favicon sizes

Favicons span a patchwork of sizes and formats, from the small icon on a browser tab to the iOS home screen tile, the Android Chrome shortcut, and the PWA manifest. Resizing a single image by hand for each of these slots is slow and tends to leave an icon that looks soft in one environment or another.

Upload one image and this tool produces every standard size the web needs, including 16, 32, 48, 64, 180, 192, and 512, in a single pass. Pick the sizes with checkboxes, and for a non-square image choose between contain, which leaves padding, and cover, which crops to fill. Turn on fill background and the padding gets a solid color, or leave it off to keep transparency. The per-size preview updates the instant you change a setting, so you can shape the result by eye.

No. You can upload a non-square image. Contain mode scales it down so the whole image stays visible with padding, while cover mode crops it to fill the canvas edge to edge. With fill background turned on, the padding in contain mode takes the background color you pick.

No. The image is read and processed entirely in your browser. The file is never transmitted to or stored on a server, so sensitive images such as a company logo or a profile photo stay private.

ICO is the classic favicon format, and a single file can hold several sizes such as 16, 32, and 48 together. Modern browsers are happy with PNG, but ICO still comes in handy for older browsers and a few environments, so the tool exports it alongside the PNGs.
